Pete: I do not trigger any of the drums. They’re all acoustically mic’d. HAVOK’s material is at a tempo that I can still get all my power down, so triggers are not needed.SDM: A lot of drummers suffer leg/knee injuries from playing double bass at high speeds for long periods of time. Have you ever had problems with this, and what kind of technique (if any) do you incorporate into your playing to avoid this?Pete: No leg injuries thus far. I use a pretty standard technique using toe, so there’s not much twisting or anything like that going on.SDM: If you were not playing drums what would you picture yourself doing?Pete: If I weren’t drumming, I’d hope I was a rich business man haha.SDM: Pete what about new music from Havok? Can we expect some any time soon?Pete: We are recording out 4th LP in April, after the Megadeth tour. We are working with a producer by the name of Steve Evetts in Orange County, CA. It is our first release via Century Media records and we are very excited to get it out there. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates.SDM: Thank you again for taking the time out to do this with us, and all the best to you and Havok!Pete: Thanks for the interview and to the Sick Drummer Magazine fans! Thanks for reading this, and go check out my videos on the Sickdrummer YouTube page! \m/35
