Cripple Bastards have been constantly hitting the road since 1992 playing all over the world, the current line-up alone played more than 300 shows including three full length tours (Europe 2000, U.S. East Coast 2002 and U.S. West Cost 2003) and appearances in international underground festivals like "Fuck The Commerce" (D), "Obscene Extreme" (CZ), "Mayland Death Fest" (USA) sharing the stage with acts like Napalm Death, Brujeria, Dismember, Suffocation, Pungent Stench, Brutal Truth, Nasum, Ratos de Porão, Extreme Noise Terror, Varukers and Chaos UK among others.

After unleashing the highly acclaimed split 7”s with Eyehategod on Southern Lord Recordings (U.S.A.) and with Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition on Relapse Records (U.S.A.) the Bastards bring to light a huge anthological double DVD called “Blackmails and assholism” on Obscene Productions (CZ), a 6+ hours monsterwork documenting the band’s entire career.

In 2008 Cripple Bastards celebrate their 20 year anniversary signing with FETO Records, the UK based label owned and operated by Shane Embury (NAPALM DEATH) and Mick Kenney (ANAAL NATHRAKH), and releasing their 4th full length album "Variante alla morte", feat. 24 tracks of hard-thrashing Hate/Grind all sung in Italian, recorded at legendary Studio Fredman (Sweden) with mixing desk extraordinaire Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Hammerfall)

Al Mazzotti Interview:

SD.com: How old were you when you started playing?

Al: I don’t remember exactly, around 9-10 years old.

SD.com: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?

Al: no, I didn’t play in anything of that kind – I just remember that I had brought my old “Hollywood” drum set both at primary and secondary school to make a terrific noise with my school mates!

SD.com: Who are your top 5 metal influences?

Al: Metallica, Testament, Sepultura, Carcass, Death

SD.com: Who are some other of your favorites?

Al: I like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, The Stooges, AC/DC, and many others from the 70’s…

SD.com: What do you do to warm up before a show?

Al: a dozen of fresh beers and massage with oil for Muay Thai boxers

SD.com: Do you read music? Regardless of answering yes or no, please tell us how it might have effected your playing?

Al: I read music because I studied violin for some time (my job is manufacturing violins), I can also apply it on the drumming but I usually play just by ears.

SD.com: Can you tell us about the gear you use?

Al: Mapex drums 5 piece, Sabian cymbals AAX, 14”Crash, 16” Crash, 22” Ride, 18”China,14” Hi-Hat, DW 9000 double pedal

SD.com: If you could give one piece of advice to young drummers, it would be...

Al: practice as much as possible and enjoy the drums like a game, don’t put too much mind and nerves on it, just have fun – things come naturally with the time!

SD.com: Who gave the best live performance you've ever seen?

Al: Nik Menza with Megadeth

SD.com: Aside from drumming, what else do you like to do?

Al: Drinking, eating, shooting, chill out at home and at least but not last f@cking a lot with my baby!
