Drummer Pete Webber and Havok Announce North American Headlining Tour
Thursday, 16 May 2013 14:44

Denver thrashers Havok today announce their first headlining tour of North America. Dates are set to commence July 22 and will see the band journey through the southern states, travelling up the eastern seaboard before making their debut performance at Montreal’s annual Heavy MTL festival on August 11.  The tour will be in support of their forthcoming new album, Unnatural Selection, set for release June 25.

Reported last week, Unnatural Selection, the band’s third full-length album for Candlelight Records, was produced by guitarist David Sanchez and mixed by Terry Date (Pantera, Overkill, Deftones). The album features original artwork from Polish illustrator Rafal Wechterowicz (Slayer, Mastodon) and was mastered by James Murphy (Aborted, World Under Blood, Abigail Williams). Lead single, “Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death,” is set to impact Loud Rock/Metal Radio May 27.  The topical thrash anthem delivers the young band’s classic thrash and old school metal sound.

Currently on tour in Europe alongside Suffocation and Cephalic Carnage, Havok’s headlining tour follows their recently announced trilogy of release performances. Tickets are on sale now at venue box offices and companion ticket agencies. A copy of Unnatural Selection will be included with ticket purchases to June Colorado shows. For a full list of dates on their European tour visit the band’s official Facebook page HERE.

Havok, called “the finest thrash band in existence” by PopDose, released their full-length debut, Burn, in 2009.  Time Is Up would follow in 2011.  “Havok have hit their stride,” said Decibel Magazine.  “Havok is everything that is great about thrash,” added Terrorizer.  In 2012, the band released their EP Point of No Return; videos for the EP’s two original songs were released earlier this year.  The videos have had over 200,000 views since release.  The band plans three new videos for Unnatural Selection; details forthcoming. Johan Nunez - Exclusive Firewind Drum-Cam Footage

About Johan:

"I started playing drums about 12 years ago, played and recorded with a bunch of local bands in Belgium, getting experience, until I auditioned for Nightrage in 2007. I got the gig, started touring more intensely and got to meet the guys in Firewind a few of times. So, when their old drummer left during the summer of 2011 I got a call from Gus asking me to fill in for their upcoming European and North American tours. After those tours I was asked to join the band permanently and record their latest album "Few Against Many". We've been touring ever since then and are now about to release our second live album "Apotheosis- Live 2012".

After the summer festivals, we'll probably tour more with Firewind and hopefully come back to the States before 2014. I'll also be on tour with Nightrage in Japan in November and I'm currently working on a new project based in the US, which you should be hearing about pretty soon."

Raphael Saini Joins Iced Earth
Thursday, 09 May 2013 13:40

Iced Earth have announced that Brent Smedley will be stepping down from drum duty in the band for personal family reasons. The new drummer will be Raphael Saini, who will be performing with the group starting this summer.

"I have family members that are elderly and frail and need my help here in Jacksonville", Smedley says. "It's been one of the hardest decisions of my life but I simply cannot commit to the kind of schedule the band deserves and requires so I decided to ask
permission to step down from my post."

"Brent has been a valued member of the group for a long time. We thank him for his contributions, friendship and energy and wish him all the best for the future. We want to welcome Raphael with open arms and are expecting for our fans to give him the welcome he deserves" - Iced Earth.

Iced Earth just released a concert from their "World Dystopia Tour" in many different formats, including BluRay, DVD and CD. Entitled "Live In Ancient Kourion" it shows the band playing to a rabid, packed house in an ancient amphitheater in Cyprus
and storming through an encompassing setlist of both fan favorites and deep catalog material.

The summer will be spent recording and mixing a new studio album entitled "Plagues of Babylon" and playing various summer festivals. A headline tour has been announced kicking off in January 2014.
