Keep up with Petri here: www.myspace.com/ghoulpatrol666
Petri: I got my first drum kit when I was 16. Before that I had only played really randomly.
SD.com: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps? Petri: No.
SD.com: Who are your top 5 metal influences? Petri: They would have to be: Dimmu Borgir, Death, Behemoth, Nile and Strapping Young Lad.
SD.com: Who are some other of your favorites? Petri: I listen to Muse quite a lot and Finnish bands like Von Hertzen Brothers, Stam1na and so much more..
SD.com: Let us know 5 CD's that are in your current rotation Petri: 1. Von Hertzen Brothers – Love Remains the Same 2. Daath – The Hinderers 3. Behemoth – The Apostasy 4. Slipknot – Psychosocial 5. Dimmu Borgir – In Sorte Diaboli
SD.com: What do you do to warm up before a show? Petri: I do drum rolls on a drum pad and double bass on the floor. I also try to strech well so I don’t cramp up so easy. Then a couple of beers and I’m ready to go.
SD.com: Do you read music? Petri: When I started playing I tried to take drum lessons and that’s the only time I’ve really had to read notes. But that lasted for about two months so I didn’t learn them very well.
SD.com: Can you tell us about the gear you use? Petri: Well I don’t have any endorsement’s yet, but at the moment I use Tama drums, Meinl cymbals and Vic Firth drum sticks. As pedals I use Trick Pro V-1 longboards and they are fucking amazing.
SD.com: If you could give one piece of advice to young drummers, it would be... Petri: Don’t be afraid to set your goals high. If you’re motivated and you practice a lot you can play anything.
SD.com: Who gave the best live performance you've ever seen? Petri: I guess it would have to be Dimmu Borgir, but I’ve seen them so many times it’s hard to pick a favourite gig.
SD.com: If you had to stop drumming, what would you want to do with your life? Petri: I hope this will never happen, but I’d just try stay involved with music in every way possible.
