Keep up with Marcelo here:

My name is Marcelo J. Russo, I born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1973. I started playing the drums at 6 years old because my father buys me one little drum. From the 13 years to 15 years old I take a part of my first rock band, where that formation was made only with friends from the high-school. And at the 16 years up to now, I grow and improve with many different styles like Rock, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal, etc. I study some years of classic guitar and bass guitar at the conservatoire, and I played the bass in 2 bands too. From 1995 to 1998 I have played into some underground bands of Heavy and Thrash Metal, making my first steps into the scene.

Approximately in 1998 I found some excellent friends and musicians, and I´ve started to take part of my actual Death Metal band called "Prion". Around that year the band was oriented into the thrash metal style, and in 1999 I participate into the record of the first 5 tracks EP called "Corpse Dissection". Then, in the 2003, Prion was playing Death Metal, and in that year I have recorded the firsts full length album called "Time of Plagues" (Furias Recs.). From 2006 I internalize more into the extreme death metal, and in that year we started to record the promotional CD called "Psalmodian Wrath", where there is a difference into the extreme drums rithms, speed and technicality. And finally into the 2007/2008 I take part into the last album from Prion called "Impressions" (Comatose Recs.), where I can demonstrate all that I learn of extreme death metal style.

Marcelo Russo Interview: How old were you when you started playing?

Marcelo: I remember that my father bought me a very small drumm when i was 6 years old. Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?

Marcelo: Yes, I played in different bands, in different styles like Rock, Heavy and some Thrash metal, etc, until i met Prion in 1998. Who are your top 5 influences?

Marcelo: Tim Yeung, Derek Roddy, Flo Mounier, John Longstreth and Mike Smith. Assuming that influences doesn't mean favorites, who are your favorites?

Marcelo: I think that will be Pete Sandoval, Marco Pitruzzella and Reno Killerich. Let us know 5 CD's that are in your current rotation.

Marcelo: Origin "Antithesis", Brain Drill "Apocalyptic Feasting", Hate Eternal "Fury and Flames", Bloodbath "Unblessing the Purity" and Impureza "En el desierto de la creencia". What do you do to warm up before a show?

Marcelo: I do arm and leg stretches and warm up on the pad for about 15 or 20 minutes.

Marcelo Russo Can you remember a night you think was your best playing ever? If yes, when and where?

Marcelo: I would have to say Agathocles last year. Do you have a favorite brand of drums or cymbals?

Marcelo: I actually use Sabian and my favourite drum is Tama and Yamaha. If you could give one piece of advice to young drummers, it would be...

Marcelo: Be  very persistant and enjoy music with all your forces and energy.

Marcelo Russo Who gave the best live performance you've ever seen?

Marcelo: Inferno from Behemoth and Pete Sandoval from Morbid Angel. If you had to stop drumming, what would you want to do with your life?

Marcelo: I think that maybe i will try to get my own recording studio.
