Keep up with Daniel here:

I’ve been playing drums since I was 11 years old. My first experiences playing in front of people were mostly blues-oriented which gave me a good basis for feel and groove, but I was attracted to metal drumming because it seemed to allow more room for expression.  Basically, it let me play faster and hit harder. I played in local bands throughout most of high school, but have been playing for Visceral Disgorge since 2010.

Daniel Harris Interview:

SDM: How old were you when you started playing?

Daniel: I got my first drum set when I was 11

SDM: Did you play in a school band or any drum corps?

Daniel: I played in the school band from around 3rd grade to 7th grade

SDM: Who are your top 5 metal influences?

Daniel:

Ed Warby
Kevin Talley
Trey Williams
Ali Richardson
Paul Bostaph

SDM: Who are some other of your favorites?

Daniel: Thomas Pridgen for sure. His groove on The Bedlam in Goliath is just ridiculous

SDM: Let us know 5 CD's that are in your current rotation

Daniel:

Defeated Sanity – Chapters of Repugnance
Bane – Give Blood
The Crown – Doomsday King
Friendly Fires – Pala
Trap Them – Seizures in Barren Praise

SDM: What do you do to warm up before a show?

Daniel: Mostly just stretching, but I try to jam on a practice pad if I have one with me.

SDM: Do you read music? Regardless of answering yes or no, please tell us how it might have effected your playing?

Daniel: I used to be able to read music but I think I’ve forgotten most of what I learned back in the day. I’m sure if I still remembered how to writing music would be much easier.

SDM: Can you tell us about the gear you use?

Daniel: I play Sonor drums, mostly Sabian cymbals, Trick Dominator Pedals and a Joey Jordison snare that I sanded down and painted orange. haha

SDM: If you could give one piece of advice to young drummers, it would be...

Daniel: Play along to music. I think that’s the one thing that really helped me when I was younger, it’s like I was playing to a click and I didn’t even know it.

SDM: Who gave the best live performance you've ever seen?

Daniel: Bolt thrower

SDM: Aside from drumming, what else do you like to do?

Daniel: I like to cook, hang out with my friends, skate, and all kinds of super cool stuff.
