Hard rock band, Return To Earth, composed of Coheed and Cambria and ex-Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie, guitarist Brett Aveni, and vocalist Ron Scalzo, have completed the recording of their second album. The rock trio are currently preparing for the upcoming release, entitled Automata, scheduled for early 2010 on Bald Freak Music. In an effort to build an early buzz, the label (which is owned and operated by Scalzo) has decided to make one of the new album tracks available for free download. Of the marketing strategy, Scalzo says, “We’re taking a page from some our favorite bands like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, and offering up some songs from the new album to the masses for free. The full album won’t be polished up for a few more months, and we’re all so psyched about how great the tunes are sounding, so we figured we’d give everyone a free taste a little early in the game. Hopefully our fans, both new and old, will spread the word and generate some excitement over the forthcoming music.” Automata is currently being mixed & mastered by Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal.
