Double bass drumming and pearl eliminators. 4 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 2
Hey, what's up everyone?

Currently I am playing on one bass drum, with the pearl eliminator double pedals. I use the black cams. Hopefully someone has experience with these. My feet are not very fast, basically because I do not work on them that often...until recently.

I have been trying to get in at LEAST an hour a day, if not 2 or 3, of trying to play along to one of the transcriptions in the back of derek roddy's book. If any of you own it, it is "congested with fear". For the most part I nail the double bass, but when it comes to the blasts (single foot), my right foot doesn't seem to handle it, but my left foot can do it. O.o

Is this a balance issue? I know that my right foot is playing the exact same thing in the sextuplet double bass parts, but it is a problem when I do the blast.

I'm pretty damn baffled by this.

I really Really REALLY want Derek Roddys book but i cant get it here in the UK >

I use the Pearl powershifters and i find the balance to be good and the eliminators are of a higher range so they should be ok.

Im not sure if im telling you stuff you allready know but have you adjusted the springs tension? I remember my old teacher telling me you need to adjust them so when you REST your foot on the pedal the beater should touch the head but I remember seeing a video of Derek Roddy saying he has them as tight as possible.

You also might want to check the condition of all the individual parts. If a nut has no thread left the pedal dosnt move smoothly.

I dont know if ive helped at all mate.

Well I have them very tight.

You gave me some useful info, but the issue is more of a human error I think, I'm just trying to figure out what it is.

hey, im using the eliminators as well, and also on the black cam.

i have a similar issue but its my left foot thats slower. its much less now though with just some practice. whenever im practicing, just playing simple beats and whatnots ill try and use my left foot instead of my right as 10 years of playing using mostly my right foot gives it a bit of an advantage, in this way it should help to give both feet an equal amount of dexterity.
