I've working on gravity blasts recently but I have ran into a problem. I can't get the volume that I would like to play at. I can play them nice a even and it sounds good but when I throw in the rest of the drums I can barely hear it. When I try to play louder it gets sloppy. Is it my technique or do I need to work out or something.

How long have you been trying to play them? I had the same problem at first. I still havent bothered learning them with my left hand. But basically keep working on them, try to use as little energy as possible in your arm, try and maximise the small movement. You should'nt have to work out or anything, I have pretty pathetic looking wrists. Just remember you really dont have to move your arm any distance at all, and just keep building up the power. Its hard to explain without showing in person, I have a couple of vids on the tube if theyre any help!

DEFENETLY A WORK OUT BECAUSE IT REALLY BENEFITS YOUR STRENGH, ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR DRUM SET UP AND THE LEVEL OF YOUR SNARE IS MUCH AS IMPORTANT. FOR EXAMPLE: IF YOU PUT YOUR SNARE HIGH YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DO YOUR ROLLS, GO ALL OVER THE PLACE, AND YOUR GRAVITY WILL BE GREAT. BUT IF YOUR SNARE IS HIGH YOU'R BLAST WILL SOUND SLOPPY AND YOU'LL GET TIRED MUCH FASTER. TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THE RESULTS THAT YOU NEED, YOU HAVE TO BALANCE YOUR SET. ONE GOOD WAY OF HELPING YOUR SELF TO BALANCE YOUR SET IS BY BLASTING WITH LEFT HAND, RIGHT HAND, DO ROLLS ON TOMBS AND JUMP WITH A GRAVITY MUST BE ON A 123 COUNT REAPEATLY. THAT WAY YOU'LL NOTICE THAT YOU CAN HAVE A FLOW OR ONE OF YOUR HANDS BURNS FASTER THAN THE OTHER. "I DON'T KNOW IF I AM MAKING ANY SENSE HERE BUT IT WORKED FOR ME"
AFTER THAT YOU CAN START TO SET UP YOUR SET ON A MUCH COMFORABLE LEVEL. ALSO, IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT HAVING YOUR DOUBLE BASS SKILLS TO GO WITH THE GRAVITY'S TEMPO, DON'T PUSH YOUR SELF TO GO AS FAST AS THE GRAVITY GOES THIS WILL BE SOMETHING THAT WILL GET THERE SMOOTHLY.IF YOU LISTEN TO DAVE LOMBARDO'S DOUBLE BASS TEMPO LIKE ON: MANDATORY SUICIDE? ISN'T AS FAST..FAST SHIT BUT HAS A GOOD QUALITY WORK OUT FOR YOUR GRAVITY BLAST TEQNIQUE. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE I WAS OF MUCH HELP. LATER NICK! \m/

thanks for the tips guys. I guess I'll just have to sit down and start messing around with technique and snare positions until I can figure it out. Cool vid btw.
