Recording at home. 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
My band is getting ready to start doing some recording. We're going to try to do it ourselves and I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for recording at home, especially concerning drums. We're doing thrashy deathmetal and didn't know if there were any particular considerations when it comes to recording that style, etc. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

well man, if yea have a good bit of money i'd recommend a roland td20 its one of the easiest drum modules to use, if yea have a good drum module and a decent computer and some basic software, you can match the quality of drum production of any of the so called top producers and engineers

I've definitely had my eye on one of those for quite a while. Unfortunately, myself, and the rest of the band for that matter, are pretty broke. So, we're going to try to do the recording as best we can with mics. We're planning on using 7 Cad Premium Mics. It's a pretty old-school way to do things but I'm okay with it as long as we can get some decent sound out of the kit. Any tips for using Mics, good ways to eq, etc?

The main advice from my first decent go at recording a full lengh album ourselves would be if you can't trigger and mic your kicks is to at least have 2 mics on the kicks, maybe something similar to a sm58 on the attack and a D112 or similar on the outside,i don't know to much about the technical things but yea.
