so I played a show last night and 2 drummers had Iron Cobra's and me and the other guy had Axis. This other drummer with the axis hit the bass drum so hard that it was pushing foward and coming loose from the hoop clamp. Then the mic in the bass drum got messed up because the bass drum moved. Then finally his the allens on his right pedal came loose and the right pedal was dead. So I let him borrow mine... in like 5 mins my left pedal was dead too (the drive shaft came loose from too much force, and my sonic hammers were loose and the vdl's shifted while he was playing too). So it was pretty insane... Honestly I know axis arn't bullet proof but I don't get the stomping the shit out of the pedal playing method? I mean we were mic'd??? and this isn't the 1st time I've run into this. I went over 1 guitarist house to jam one time and I was playing his kit. He sat down to show me one beat and he was kicking so hard he put the beater through the bass drum head! It was a 1 ply head but still i've never done that, or seen that before.

Haha. Yeah some people are obsessed with that. I know what you mean, I mean I like to push air through the drum, and play with some sack, but it gets to a certain point where its a bit over the line. When you are hitting so hard that you are constantly damaging your equipment, then its just a bit too far! haha.

i've seen for two times how another band's drummers killed the bass drum head, one of them did it when he was warming up XDD
hitting hard is a wonderful way to waste much money buying new equipment))

Haha wow, that would suck to bust a bass drum during warm up. Thankfully its only happened to me in practice.

I use to have wood beaters on my iron cobra and after 1 practice I noticed I went through the 1st ply on my bass drum head. But, that doesn't really count because I didn't break it and I didn't have a patch on it.

Thats how I broke my first bass drum head! Wood beaters on the iron cobras.
