I want to start using metronomes live and at band practice, mostly to help save my hearing. Can anyone remcommend a good metronome and in ear monitors. I dont want to wear headphones because i wont be able to windmill or headbang.

If anyone can help that would be great

About 10 years ago I had an idea for a "pulse" metronome and approached a few of those "submit your invention" firms. Well, they wanted thousands to do anything with it, so it fell to the wayside. About 3 years later, reding High Times, I saw a similar product on the market and kicked myself...

Here is a link to a "pulsing" watch that allows you to feel the time. Not sure how good it is, but can start you down a new path for a solution...

I wonder what the guy's in Meshuggah use? I notice Tomas looking at a click of some sort and then counting it off for the band. They also have BPM numbers next to the songs on the set list. I'll do some research and see if i can find out what he uses.

Awesome, I cant say I've ever notice Thomas Haake doing this. If you find out let me know, I'll try and find out as well.

I have a little tiny Dr. Beat, not the super expensive one, I paid..70 for it. I use it alot, especially during practice, but I don't ever practice with the band while listening to a metronome. Only for starting the song, or practicing by myself.

I actually own a Roland SPDS sampler modual i was thinking of recording the tempos onto that and using that. Put different song tempos onto different pads could work quiet well.
