Need some more advice! 3 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Right I got my Roland trigger for my kick drum, and I use an Alesis DM5 Module, it keeps double triggering :/

Any tips on how I can get rid of this? trigger placement, muffling etc

Cheers!
Shaun

Imagine that you have a bowl of water...
If you drop something into the center of the bowl,
the wave will travel out to the edge of the bowl and
then rebound back to the center. Your drum head works
in a similar way. You hit the head and a wave travels
out to the rim and will then rebound. When a drum head
is "in tune" it will likely be at its maximum resonance
with the shell and rim, making it more likely that
"rebound" waves will set off your triggers.
There are a couple of things that can help:
1 - bring your head out of resonance with the shell.
In other words, try to play your bass drum
"out of tune", maybe a little higher or lower in pitch.
2 - muffle the head just enough to dissipate the energy
of the waves returning from the head. A pillow or
blanket is best.
Also, some triggers allow for sensitivity adjustment.
If yours do, you may want to screw around with that a little.
Good luck!

i have a pillow in my kickdrum and when i placed my trigger at the bottom of the drum in front of the pillow (touching the drumhead) the doubletriggering issue was solved... i dont say it´s the best was to solve the problem but it works for me

I use dm5 with the same roland trig and set in the same place and don't have any problems, but you do need to mess round with the sensitivity, head tension, muffling etc.
