Hey guys.

I'm gonna take a page from one of the other posters in this board and say that I want my toms to sound much like if not reminiscent of:

and/or

I have Remo Pinstripes on the top and Ambassadors on the bottom. I think the Ambassadors are near as tight has they can be and the pinstripes are pretty low, but I still get a but of an ugly sound if they're too low and too much overtone if they're too high. I can't possibly seem to find the sweet spot between these two points. So, should I try something different or get some moongels or what?

I always have good luck with a loose bottom head. I take my top heads as tight as they will go by hand, even them out and then add about 1 or 2 full turns more. My bottom heads are pretty much the same way.

This gives me a nice feel for the sound of the drum, volume & attack, with not much of an "after ring".

Hope this helps... I'm a bit strange... Ian
