Iron Cobra or DW 5002D3? 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, I am a drummer from Idaho, and I've gone through 2 really low quality double bass pedals. My first one was a pdp double pedal for only 100$, then my second was the pearl 120 for only 150$. Both pedal are single chained and extremely low quality, I am going to invest in a new pedal and cant decide between the Tama Iron Cobra, or the DW 500. Someone help. Im not looking at spending more than 300$

I know this is an old post - just wanted to see what you ended up with?

Of those choices I'd recommend the Cobras, but i'm sure the 5002's would be a great choice also. I used to have Cobras, but they started squeaking after a few years (i oiled them once or twice), and I still got a lot of great use out of them! I tried a friend's 5002's, and it might just be the way he had them set up vs how high his throne was, but i couldn't get any speed out of them. i'm sure they can fly though, DW isnt known for making crappy stuff.

I switched to the DW9002's after the Cobras and I can definitely tell you they are great and I probably won't use anything else. There's little to no resistance and not too many adjustable parts everywhere, so there's really nothing holding you back. A bit more than $300, which was also a concern of mine, however they've held up for probably 8 years now, and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
