Studio Tips:

Do it as much as you can!!! I've found the more I can put myself in a session environment the better I get at it.
Play on as many fun projects as possible! In varying styles.

Drummer Comments:

The writing/recording workflow of this record has been new and interesting. First off, I've completed my studio at home! I've always wanted to roll out of bed and record album quality drums in my boxers! Now that is becoming a reality for me :-) The writing had been a bit slow due to all of our hectic work schedules but we managed to work it out.

Basically, we recorded ideas during our infrequent rehearsals and developed those and our own ideas individually at home using DKFH and home recording setups. Bouncing versions of songs to each other to get feedback.  After we had finalized the arrangements, Greg (Guitars) would lay down scratch over a rough programmed drum framework. After sending me the scratches via FTP, I recorded the live Kit over the tunes at my place by myself. I have a laptop running remote desktop to my DAW. This allows me to control the session from inside the drum booth. This is very different than how I have recorded albums in the past ( OK!!! You have 12 hours to record 10 tracks...Go!).

I think this way of working is going to increase the frequency of our album output and writing. This will be a great album for drummers to digest and I can't wait to get it on everyones hard drives!!!!
