Studio Tips: The main thing you get when entering the studio for the first time is the shock of getting so microscopically scrutinised. The smallest mistake is magnified to the degree that a part you thought you had down completely suddenly seems like a second rate take. This is brutal. So my main tip for the first timers is to prepare as much as possible before recording, make sure all your gear is in perfect working order and try and maintain a relaxed and determined approach to your playing. One way of getting to that secure frame of mind would be to video yourself playing, making sure you hear everything in the playback and see for yourself where you stand before the producer will do that for you! This way you will be sure to fix any problems you might not have noticed. Preparation is everything. Train hard, fight easy... |
